Campylobacter

A common bacterial cause of diarrheal illness, often linked to poultry and unpasteurized milk.

Campylobacter is a frequent cause of foodborne illness. FoodSafety.gov links it to unpasteurized milk, chicken, shellfish, turkey, and contaminated water.

Illness usually includes diarrhea (sometimes bloody), cramps, fever, and vomiting. Most people recover within about a week.

Drink only pasteurized milk and cook poultry to a safe internal temperature.
